00:00:00 --> 00:00:04
			Alhamdulillah Rabbil Alameen, wassalatu wassalamu ala rasoolillah wa

00:00:04 --> 00:00:06
			ala alihi wa sahbihi ajma'een.

00:00:07 --> 00:00:10
			Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh, my brothers

00:00:10 --> 00:00:12
			and sisters in Islam, this is your brother

00:00:12 --> 00:00:14
			Abu Bakr as-Za'ud and I'm coming

00:00:14 --> 00:00:19
			with you with a brand new episode series

00:00:19 --> 00:00:22
			in which we have titled Reflections from the

00:00:22 --> 00:00:24
			Revelation in where I share with you an

00:00:24 --> 00:00:28
			aspect or two about a story in the

00:00:28 --> 00:00:30
			Quran and how we can benefit from this

00:00:30 --> 00:00:32
			in our daily life and in our relationship

00:00:32 --> 00:00:34
			with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.

00:00:34 --> 00:00:36
			The first story that I'm sharing with you

00:00:36 --> 00:00:39
			is the story of the man who died

00:00:39 --> 00:00:42
			100 years and then he was resurrected by

00:00:42 --> 00:00:43
			Allah Azza wa Jal.

00:00:44 --> 00:00:46
			This is a story that Allah Azza wa

00:00:46 --> 00:00:49
			Jal mentioned in Surat Al-Baqarah, towards the

00:00:49 --> 00:00:51
			end of Surat Al-Baqarah and it is

00:00:51 --> 00:00:54
			a story that came after Ayat Al-Kursi

00:00:54 --> 00:00:57
			and we all know that Ayat Al-Kursi

00:00:57 --> 00:01:00
			is the greatest Ayah in the Quran, Allahu

00:01:00 --> 00:01:02
			la ilaha illa huwa al hayyu al qayyum

00:01:02 --> 00:01:05
			and it was the greatest Ayah in the

00:01:05 --> 00:01:08
			Quran because its subject matter was about Allah

00:01:08 --> 00:01:11
			subhanahu wa ta'ala and of course there

00:01:11 --> 00:01:14
			is nothing greater than Allah subhanahu wa ta

00:01:14 --> 00:01:14
			'ala.

00:01:15 --> 00:01:17
			In the Ayah, Ayat Al-Kursi, Allah Azza

00:01:17 --> 00:01:19
			wa Jal mentioned a name of his.

00:01:20 --> 00:01:23
			He said Allahu la ilaha illa huwa al

00:01:23 --> 00:01:26
			hayyu al qayyum, al hayy, the all living

00:01:26 --> 00:01:29
			and al hayy is also the one who

00:01:29 --> 00:01:32
			is able to give life and take life

00:01:32 --> 00:01:32
			away.

00:01:32 --> 00:01:34
			That is a name of Allah and that's

00:01:34 --> 00:01:37
			an attribute of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.

00:01:37 --> 00:01:40
			So the idea is, after Ayat Al-Kursi,

00:01:41 --> 00:01:43
			Allah Azza wa Jal gives us examples of

00:01:43 --> 00:01:46
			how Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala gives life

00:01:46 --> 00:01:50
			and takes life and so now the story

00:01:50 --> 00:01:52
			of the man who died 100 years comes

00:01:52 --> 00:01:56
			to reaffirm the name of Allah subhanahu wa

00:01:56 --> 00:01:58
			ta'ala, al hayy, the all living and

00:01:58 --> 00:01:59
			the one who is able to give life.

00:02:00 --> 00:02:02
			In the story Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala,

00:02:02 --> 00:02:10
			he said, Allah Azza wa Jal, he says

00:02:10 --> 00:02:14
			to Nabi sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, to give

00:02:14 --> 00:02:19
			mankind the example of a man who passed

00:02:19 --> 00:02:20
			by a town.

00:02:21 --> 00:02:24
			There is a man, Allah A'lam who

00:02:24 --> 00:02:25
			he is, some say he was a prophet,

00:02:26 --> 00:02:29
			he was a uzair, others have other opinions

00:02:29 --> 00:02:32
			as to who he is, Mujahid ibn Jubair

00:02:32 --> 00:02:34
			Allah, he says that this person was a

00:02:34 --> 00:02:37
			kafir, he was a disbeliever and he had

00:02:37 --> 00:02:40
			doubted the ability of Allah Azza wa Jal

00:02:40 --> 00:02:41
			that he can resurrect.

00:02:42 --> 00:02:44
			So no matter what the case is, Allah

00:02:44 --> 00:02:46
			Azza wa Jal kept his name hidden, so

00:02:46 --> 00:02:47
			we don't need to know the name.

00:02:48 --> 00:02:50
			A man passed by a town.

00:02:50 --> 00:02:51
			What town is this?

00:02:51 --> 00:02:54
			Some said that this was Baytul Maqdis, Jerusalem,

00:02:54 --> 00:02:57
			others said other matters, really doesn't matter.

00:02:58 --> 00:03:00
			There was a man who passed by a

00:03:00 --> 00:03:00
			town.

00:03:01 --> 00:03:02
			So he is not a resident in the

00:03:02 --> 00:03:05
			town, he doesn't live there, he is on

00:03:05 --> 00:03:07
			his donkey, he has his food with him

00:03:07 --> 00:03:08
			and he is passing by the town.

00:03:09 --> 00:03:13
			اَوْ كَلَّذِي مَرَّ عَلَىٰ قَرْيَةٍ This town, Allah

00:03:13 --> 00:03:15
			Azza wa Jal describes it and he says,

00:03:16 --> 00:03:20
			وَهِيَ خَوِيَةٌ عَلَىٰ عُرُوشِهَا It was khawiya, meaning

00:03:20 --> 00:03:24
			it was empty, it was deserted, there was

00:03:24 --> 00:03:26
			no one living in the town at all.

00:03:26 --> 00:03:30
			وَهِيَ خَوِيَةٌ عَلَىٰ عُرُوشِهَا And another opinion for

00:03:30 --> 00:03:33
			خَوِيَةٌ عَلَىٰ عُرُوشِهَا means that it was destroyed

00:03:33 --> 00:03:34
			and it was ruined.

00:03:35 --> 00:03:37
			The houses, the roofs and the ceilings had

00:03:37 --> 00:03:40
			collapsed and the walls had caved in.

00:03:41 --> 00:03:43
			That's what خَوِيَةٌ عَلَىٰ عُرُوشِهَا means.

00:03:43 --> 00:03:46
			So a man passes in a town that

00:03:46 --> 00:03:49
			is destroyed and ruined and it's deserted, there

00:03:49 --> 00:03:50
			is no one in there.

00:03:51 --> 00:03:54
			As he walks and passes through this town,

00:03:55 --> 00:03:59
			doubt creeps into his mind and he begins

00:03:59 --> 00:04:02
			to think and he assesses the situation around

00:04:02 --> 00:04:02
			him.

00:04:03 --> 00:04:07
			He says, أَنَّا يُحْيِي هَذِهِ اللَّهُ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا

00:04:07 --> 00:04:10
			He asks a question between him and himself.

00:04:11 --> 00:04:13
			He says, How can Allah عز و جل

00:04:13 --> 00:04:17
			revive this town after it has died, after

00:04:17 --> 00:04:19
			it has been ruined and destroyed?

00:04:19 --> 00:04:23
			الله أكبر Some said that this could have

00:04:23 --> 00:04:24
			been a doubt from him.

00:04:24 --> 00:04:26
			If we're saying that this man was a

00:04:26 --> 00:04:30
			disbeliever, then this is him uttering his doubt

00:04:30 --> 00:04:31
			in the ability of Allah.

00:04:32 --> 00:04:33
			And if we took the other opinion that

00:04:33 --> 00:04:36
			he was a believer, then he said this

00:04:36 --> 00:04:37
			out of amazement.

00:04:38 --> 00:04:40
			He's amazed, how can Allah عز و جل

00:04:40 --> 00:04:42
			revive this after it had died?

00:04:43 --> 00:04:45
			And you know, what he is questioning now

00:04:45 --> 00:04:47
			is no different to what many people question

00:04:47 --> 00:04:48
			today.

00:04:49 --> 00:04:51
			You know, sometimes you can look into your

00:04:51 --> 00:04:56
			situation and say, How can Allah grant me

00:04:56 --> 00:04:58
			cure after I have become sick for many

00:04:58 --> 00:04:58
			years?

00:04:59 --> 00:05:01
			How can Allah عز و جل enrich me

00:05:01 --> 00:05:02
			after poverty?

00:05:03 --> 00:05:05
			How can Allah عز و جل guide me

00:05:05 --> 00:05:08
			after I have been sinning for many, many

00:05:08 --> 00:05:08
			years?

00:05:09 --> 00:05:11
			How can Allah عز و جل grant me

00:05:11 --> 00:05:14
			a child after me and my wife have

00:05:14 --> 00:05:16
			tried for many, many years?

00:05:17 --> 00:05:20
			These questions are ongoing in the minds of

00:05:20 --> 00:05:21
			mankind, right?

00:05:22 --> 00:05:24
			Someone can sit and learn the importance of

00:05:24 --> 00:05:26
			Islam, learn the importance of Quran.

00:05:27 --> 00:05:30
			And then he sits there to himself regretting

00:05:30 --> 00:05:32
			his time that he has wasted.

00:05:32 --> 00:05:34
			And he says, how can Allah teach me

00:05:34 --> 00:05:37
			after I have abandoned the Quran for many,

00:05:37 --> 00:05:38
			many years?

00:05:39 --> 00:05:43
			So when this question arises, just like this

00:05:43 --> 00:05:45
			man, he's questioning, How can Allah revive this

00:05:45 --> 00:05:47
			town after it had died?

00:05:48 --> 00:05:52
			Allah عز و جل immediately caused him to

00:05:52 --> 00:05:52
			die.

00:05:53 --> 00:05:55
			فَأَمَاتَهُ اللَّهُ مِئَةَ عَانٍ Allah caused him to

00:05:55 --> 00:05:57
			die for 100 years.

00:05:58 --> 00:06:00
			ثُمَّ بَعْثَهُ And then after 100 years, he

00:06:00 --> 00:06:01
			resurrected him.

00:06:01 --> 00:06:04
			الله أكبر Look how quick Allah عز و

00:06:04 --> 00:06:05
			جل speaks about this.

00:06:05 --> 00:06:08
			He died 100 years, then Allah resurrected him.

00:06:08 --> 00:06:09
			See how quick time is?

00:06:10 --> 00:06:12
			Allah عز و جل spoke about 100 years

00:06:12 --> 00:06:13
			in a few words.

00:06:13 --> 00:06:15
			And that's how we experience time.

00:06:15 --> 00:06:17
			You might have lived 30, 40 years.

00:06:17 --> 00:06:18
			Where did it all go?

00:06:20 --> 00:06:25
			You feel like the blink of an eye.

00:06:25 --> 00:06:26
			Time goes.

00:06:26 --> 00:06:27
			That's how quick it is.

00:06:27 --> 00:06:29
			And that's the reality of this worldly life.

00:06:30 --> 00:06:33
			So Allah عز و جل resurrected him after

00:06:33 --> 00:06:33
			100 years.

00:06:35 --> 00:06:37
			قَالَ كَمْ لَبِثْ And an angel is sent

00:06:37 --> 00:06:40
			to him and he asks him, How long

00:06:40 --> 00:06:42
			were you dead for?

00:06:43 --> 00:06:47
			The man says يَوْمًا أَوْ بَعْضَ يَوْمٍ I

00:06:47 --> 00:06:50
			was only He thought he assumed you were

00:06:50 --> 00:06:50
			sleeping.

00:06:51 --> 00:06:53
			He said I was sleeping for a day

00:06:53 --> 00:06:54
			or maybe half a day.

00:06:54 --> 00:06:55
			A few hours.

00:06:56 --> 00:06:58
			And this is because the day he died,

00:06:58 --> 00:06:59
			it was in the morning.

00:07:00 --> 00:07:02
			And when he was resurrected 100 years later,

00:07:03 --> 00:07:05
			he got up and it was Asr at

00:07:05 --> 00:07:05
			that time.

00:07:06 --> 00:07:08
			So he thought it was from the morning

00:07:08 --> 00:07:08
			to the evening.

00:07:09 --> 00:07:10
			That's a couple of hours.

00:07:11 --> 00:07:13
			So the angel corrects his understanding and he

00:07:13 --> 00:07:16
			says to him بَلْ لَبِثْتَ مِئَةَ عَامٍ Rather,

00:07:17 --> 00:07:21
			you have been in this situation for 100

00:07:21 --> 00:07:21
			years.

00:07:22 --> 00:07:25
			الله أكبر And the man trusts because whatever

00:07:25 --> 00:07:27
			comes from Allah عز و جل is the

00:07:27 --> 00:07:27
			truth.

00:07:29 --> 00:07:31
			قَالَ كَمْ لَبِثْتَ قَالَ لَبِثْتُ يَوْمًا أَوْ بَعْضَ

00:07:31 --> 00:07:35
			يَوْمٍ قَالَ بَلْ لَبِثْتَ مِئَةَ عَامٍ The angel

00:07:35 --> 00:07:38
			says to him فَنْظُرْ إِلَىٰ طُعَامِكَ وَشَرَابِكَ لَمْ

00:07:38 --> 00:07:40
			يَتَسَنَّ Look at your food and look at

00:07:40 --> 00:07:41
			your drink.

00:07:41 --> 00:07:42
			He had food with him.

00:07:42 --> 00:07:44
			They say that he had figs and grapes

00:07:44 --> 00:07:45
			and so on.

00:07:45 --> 00:07:47
			And he had a juice with him.

00:07:47 --> 00:07:48
			Look at it.

00:07:48 --> 00:07:52
			لَمْ يَتَسَنَّ It did not change despite 100

00:07:52 --> 00:07:53
			years passing by.

00:07:54 --> 00:07:55
			It didn't change.

00:07:55 --> 00:07:56
			It remained fresh as it is.

00:07:57 --> 00:07:59
			And you know the quickest thing that rots

00:07:59 --> 00:08:00
			on earth is food.

00:08:01 --> 00:08:03
			You place a salad on the table, if

00:08:03 --> 00:08:06
			it's not consumed within an hour, it cannot

00:08:06 --> 00:08:06
			be eaten anymore.

00:08:07 --> 00:08:08
			So his food didn't change.

00:08:09 --> 00:08:12
			But one second, the food not changing will

00:08:12 --> 00:08:15
			support his idea of saying that he had

00:08:15 --> 00:08:17
			only slept for a few hours.

00:08:17 --> 00:08:19
			So until now, he's confused.

00:08:19 --> 00:08:21
			He sees his food hasn't changed.

00:08:21 --> 00:08:23
			Well, that doesn't suggest I've been here 100

00:08:23 --> 00:08:24
			years.

00:08:24 --> 00:08:26
			It suggests that I've been here for a

00:08:26 --> 00:08:27
			couple of hours, which is what I'm saying.

00:08:28 --> 00:08:32
			Then Allah says to him وَنْظُرْ إِلَىٰ حِمَارِكَ

00:08:32 --> 00:08:33
			Look at your donkey.

00:08:34 --> 00:08:36
			So he looks at his donkey and the

00:08:36 --> 00:08:38
			donkey has become now all bones withered away.

00:08:39 --> 00:08:41
			Now he realizes it's been 100 years.

00:08:42 --> 00:08:46
			وَنْظُرْ إِلَىٰ حِمَارِكَ وَلِنَجْعَلَكَ آيَةً لِّلنَّاسِ And look

00:08:46 --> 00:08:48
			at yourself and we're going to make you

00:08:48 --> 00:08:48
			a sign for mankind.

00:08:50 --> 00:08:53
			So he looks at himself and here some

00:08:53 --> 00:08:55
			of the Mufassirun mentioned that Allah Azawajal gave

00:08:55 --> 00:08:57
			life to his eyes first.

00:08:57 --> 00:08:59
			He opened his eyes and he had seen

00:08:59 --> 00:09:01
			his body and it was all bones and

00:09:01 --> 00:09:04
			then all the flesh dressed his bones and

00:09:04 --> 00:09:05
			he came back to life.

00:09:05 --> 00:09:10
			Allah Azawajal said وَنْظُرْ إِلَىٰ ٱلْحِمَارِ وَنْظُرْ إِلَىٰ

00:09:10 --> 00:09:14
			ٱلْعِظَامِ كَيْفَ نُنشِزُهَا Look at the bones of

00:09:14 --> 00:09:17
			this donkey of yours.

00:09:18 --> 00:09:21
			كَيْفَ نُنشِزُهَا Look at how we raised the

00:09:21 --> 00:09:21
			bones.

00:09:21 --> 00:09:25
			And in another qira'a نُنشِرُهَا Meaning look

00:09:25 --> 00:09:26
			how we resurrected.

00:09:26 --> 00:09:28
			So all of a sudden he's staring and

00:09:28 --> 00:09:30
			looking at these bones of the donkey they

00:09:30 --> 00:09:34
			come back like Lego pieces and they rise

00:09:34 --> 00:09:38
			and they connect together كَيْفَ نَكْسُوهَا لَحْمَةً And

00:09:38 --> 00:09:41
			then it was dressed with the flesh and

00:09:41 --> 00:09:43
			the organs come back together and the skin

00:09:43 --> 00:09:45
			comes back together and the fur and wool

00:09:45 --> 00:09:48
			of this animal comes back together and it's

00:09:48 --> 00:09:49
			back to life.

00:09:50 --> 00:09:54
			Allah Azawajal he says فَلَمَّا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُ When

00:09:54 --> 00:09:55
			things became clear for him and he had

00:09:55 --> 00:09:58
			seen this قَالَ أَعْلَمُ أَنَّ اللَّهَ عَلَى كُلِّ

00:09:58 --> 00:10:01
			شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ He reached the conclusion and he

00:10:01 --> 00:10:04
			says now I am absolutely certain that Allah

00:10:04 --> 00:10:06
			is capable over all things.

00:10:07 --> 00:10:10
			Now the certainty has hit his heart that

00:10:10 --> 00:10:12
			Allah is capable over all things.

00:10:12 --> 00:10:16
			It took him 100 years 100 years to

00:10:16 --> 00:10:19
			learn one thing about Allah Azawajal to learn

00:10:19 --> 00:10:22
			the ability of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala

00:10:22 --> 00:10:24
			and you know my brothers and sisters in

00:10:24 --> 00:10:26
			Islam it is worth it to spend a

00:10:26 --> 00:10:29
			lifetime to learn about your maker your creator

00:10:29 --> 00:10:31
			at the end of the day that is

00:10:31 --> 00:10:33
			the purpose of life you know a lot

00:10:33 --> 00:10:34
			of people when they're asked what is the

00:10:34 --> 00:10:36
			purpose of life they say the purpose of

00:10:36 --> 00:10:39
			life is to worship Allah yeah but before

00:10:39 --> 00:10:41
			this there is a purpose that Allah mentioned

00:10:41 --> 00:10:44
			in the Quran and that is to learn

00:10:44 --> 00:10:46
			about Allah first because how can you worship

00:10:46 --> 00:10:48
			him if you don't know who he is

00:10:48 --> 00:10:51
			Allah Azawajal he says Allah who created the

00:10:51 --> 00:10:55
			seven heavens Allah created the seven heavens and

00:10:55 --> 00:10:58
			he created like them earths meaning seven earths

00:10:58 --> 00:11:01
			why oh Allah why did you create this

00:11:01 --> 00:11:06
			he says so that you can know that

00:11:06 --> 00:11:09
			Allah is capable over all things and so

00:11:09 --> 00:11:12
			that's the first purpose of life so that

00:11:12 --> 00:11:14
			we know Allah is capable over all things

00:11:14 --> 00:11:17
			and this man saw a miracle in front

00:11:17 --> 00:11:19
			of his eyes and we see miracles every

00:11:19 --> 00:11:22
			single day and these miracles that we see

00:11:22 --> 00:11:25
			every day are supposed to enhance our knowledge

00:11:25 --> 00:11:28
			of Allah Azawajal and reaffirm within our hearts

00:11:28 --> 00:11:31
			that Allah is capable over all things the

00:11:31 --> 00:11:33
			sun is a miraculous sign the moon is

00:11:33 --> 00:11:35
			a miraculous sign when the moon split in

00:11:35 --> 00:11:38
			the life of the prophet that's a miraculous

00:11:38 --> 00:11:41
			sign but it's no different to the moon

00:11:41 --> 00:11:43
			itself existing in one shape as well when

00:11:43 --> 00:11:46
			the sea split for Musa that's a miraculous

00:11:46 --> 00:11:49
			sign but the sea flowing now is also

00:11:49 --> 00:11:51
			a miraculous sign you know there was a

00:11:51 --> 00:11:53
			sheikh that mentioned something very important he said

00:11:54 --> 00:11:56
			if I was to bang a wooden table

00:11:56 --> 00:12:00
			and I took out an apple or an

00:12:00 --> 00:12:04
			orange you'd all say that this is miraculous

00:12:04 --> 00:12:07
			this is something supernatural or you might say

00:12:07 --> 00:12:10
			you're a magician the idea is people will

00:12:10 --> 00:12:13
			be amazed and mesmerized subhanallah how did an

00:12:13 --> 00:12:15
			apple come out of a wooden table but

00:12:15 --> 00:12:17
			the idea is every single day we're seeing

00:12:17 --> 00:12:21
			this right but an orange comes out from

00:12:21 --> 00:12:24
			wood it's something we call a trunk and

00:12:24 --> 00:12:26
			branches and an orange tree or an apple

00:12:26 --> 00:12:30
			tree and so this is also a miracle

00:12:30 --> 00:12:33
			so the idea is every single day we

00:12:33 --> 00:12:36
			are seeing the ability of Allah subhanahu wa

00:12:36 --> 00:12:38
			ta'ala we're seeing the ability of Allah

00:12:38 --> 00:12:40
			Azawajal اعلم ان الله على كل شيء قدير

00:12:40 --> 00:12:43
			and once you know that Allah is capable

00:12:43 --> 00:12:47
			over all things that's when your relationship with

00:12:47 --> 00:12:50
			Allah strengthens and you'll draw nearer and nearer

00:12:50 --> 00:12:52
			to him and closer and closer to him

00:12:52 --> 00:12:55
			now you'll be making dua and you'll never

00:12:55 --> 00:12:58
			miss a dua because you're aware that Allah

00:12:58 --> 00:13:02
			Azawajal is able to change your situation you're

00:13:02 --> 00:13:04
			in poverty he's able to enrich you you're

00:13:04 --> 00:13:08
			sick he's able to cure you you're misguided

00:13:08 --> 00:13:11
			he's able to guide you you're filled with

00:13:11 --> 00:13:16
			sins and you're impure and filth has overcome

00:13:16 --> 00:13:18
			your heart and your mind and your soul

00:13:19 --> 00:13:22
			Allah Azawajal is able to purify you and

00:13:22 --> 00:13:24
			to cleanse you and to clean you الله

00:13:24 --> 00:13:27
			على كل شيء قدير this knowledge is very

00:13:27 --> 00:13:30
			important and so my brothers and sisters in

00:13:30 --> 00:13:33
			Islam the gist of the story here is

00:13:33 --> 00:13:36
			ponder over the signs of Allah Azawajal every

00:13:36 --> 00:13:38
			day don't say I wish I was like

00:13:38 --> 00:13:40
			this man and saw these miracles so that

00:13:40 --> 00:13:43
			my certainty in Allah strengthens every day you're

00:13:43 --> 00:13:47
			seeing miracles every day you're seeing it it's

00:13:47 --> 00:13:49
			just people choose to see it and to

00:13:49 --> 00:13:51
			take a lesson and people choose to ignore

00:13:51 --> 00:13:55
			have this certainty in your heart increase it

00:13:55 --> 00:13:58
			every day and get closer to Allah Azawajal

00:13:58 --> 00:14:01
			through his name Al-Qadir subhanahu wa ta

00:14:01 --> 00:14:03
			'ala I ask Allah Azawajal to grant us

00:14:03 --> 00:14:05
			goodness and to guide our hearts and to

00:14:05 --> 00:14:07
			purify our souls and our hearts before we

00:14:07 --> 00:14:09
			meet him subhanahu wa ta'ala
